After the meeting with Skadi's associate we set our course for the tarot card. About a half days journey later, the sky was dark and the card was close. We approached the card with caution as I made sure that the leadership could see in the dark. Rather than send out a small skiff for the card, I raised it and the water around it in an effort to bring the card to our level. However before we could get a handle on it, a series of blue lights danced under the waves, causing both Ezra and Melchior to jump into the water. What possessed them I could only guess but Santiago confirmed that a mind spell of some sort had just occurred. Seeing them go over, seemingly not of their own volition, I ordered the loading of a fore swivel gun as well as some of the crew to try and acquire the card. Working as fast as possible we get a shot loaded and fired, breaking the creature's concentration. In so doing, the two men began swimming back to the ship just in time for the creature to reach up and start climbing the ship itself. The best I can describe it is that it was a squid, half the size of the ship and too thick for its own good. That didn't seem to stop Santiago or Marius who were more than willing to engage the thing in close quarters. Axes and swords flashed and blinded the creature on one side as a bullet from my own pistol blinded the other. Marius finished the beast with his rather large weapon. I needed to disperse some of the mana to the wounded crewmates which happened shortly after the felling of the beast. We'd also agreed to try and salvage the corpse as best we could. I'm sure Melchior will harvest the teeth and blood. Supposedly Bonnie will bring in creature in the form of calamari. For now I'll be content releasing the card into the captains possession, and proceeding to return back to Nassau for several days of rest. I don't need them myself but the crew looks weary and Im sure Melchior and Ezra could use some time to regain their edge.
