Mystery Cult Intiation: Company of the Codex (• - •••••)

Your character is a member of the The Company of The Codex, a Nameless Order based on a philosophy of radical freedom, equality, and divining magical praxis from discipline and wealth.  Unlike the strict hierarchies of the Diamond Orders or the hegemony of the Seers of the Throne, The Company accepts all, so long as they have some degree supernatural puissance.   Picaroons deliberately adopt an exaggerated persona on the high seas to intimidate opponents.

Additionally, each dot in this Merit also acts as Status in The Company.

Awakened Picaroons

Rote Skills (•): Gain the following skills as Rote Skills: Firearms, Intimidation, Survival.  Additionally, your Nimbus has changed subtly in a manner that can be identified as being a Company member.
The Sword and the Spell (••): Gain a Speciality in either Occult or Weaponry.
Fearsome Mien (•••): Gain the Potent Nimbus Merit (••) (Mage p.103).
The Dread Mage (••••): Gain the Shadow Name Merit  (•••) (Mage p.104).
Company Captain (•••••): Gain the Grimoire (Codex) Merit (•••) (Mage p.101).

Begotten Picaroons

Controlled Appetites (•): Gain the Hunger Management Merit (•) - you can ignore the Resolve prerequisite for the purposes of this first dot (Beast p.116).  Additionally, while it may not be in a proper Hive with the other Begotten members of the Codex, it is possible to travel from one Company Lair to another (for better, or for worse).
The Sword and the Spell (••): Gain a Speciality in either Occult or Weaponry.
Fueled by the Flesh (•••): Gain the Scour Your Body Merit (Beast Player's Guide p. 103).
Supernal Spoils (••••): Though not one of the Wise themselves, your character has been around Supernal magic long enough to pick up some of the basics.  You gain the ability to activate Artifacts as if you were Awakened, though you must use the Artifact's Gnosis and Arcanum ratings.  In addition, through the bond granted by the Codex and your Kinship, you have learned how to emulate a single Awakened spell, much like a Proximi lineage.  It can require no more than three dots in any Arcanum, and uses their Lair+Satiety as its casting die pool.  The spell costs one point of willpower to cast (any Mana cost may be paid in Satiety I stead), has free Reach equal to the rating in this Merit - highest Arcana used, and invokes one die of Paradox for each additional Reach. The Begotten cannot contain or mitigate Paradox and must release it.  Lastly, this must be a spell that they have seen used at least once before, and when chosen, cannot be (easily) changed.
Elder Monster (•••••): Gain the Legendary Horror Merit (•) - you can ignore the Lair prerequisite for the purposes of this first dot (Beast Player's Guide p. 99).  Additionally, gain one two-dot Advanced or Epic Merit of your choice, that you otherwise qualify for.
