The Rampager was a curious lathotas that once terrorized the eastern front of Atherdale, indiscriminately attacking any moving creature it happened upon. Its actions brought great destruction and untold sorrow to those living in the province before its defeat at the hands of Erdo Elfast and the members of the Cursebusters. As lathotas were not often found in the south, and the Rampager displayed a great, glowing print of a green hand on its back, it's highly likely that its actions were caused by the Green Hand.
Description
The Rampager was a hulking, beastly bipedal creature covered in thick, shaggy fur and possessing a slightly humanoid stature. It two legs terminated in thick, battered hooves, and its arms featured large, terrifying claws. Its head, generally obscured by a mass of moss, somewhat resembled that of an elk, with large, flat teeth and shining green eyes. A set of two winding antlers grew from the top of its skull, hardy and pointed at the ends. On its back, a large, glowing green hand print showcased its connection to the Green Hand.
The Rampager would attack anything that moved in sight, seemingly possessing a unyielding rage.
Skills and Abilities
Bearing the same characteristics as other lathotases, the Rampager was highly durable and resistant to damage. Its body was capable of rapid healing, and it could enter an enraged state that would stress its muscles to their limits. The Rampager fought wildly in combat, striking randomly against its opponents with its powerful arms.
A bite from the Rampager, as with other lathotases, had the chance of causing the curse to carry over to the victim.
History
In Iron 988, the Rampager was first spotted around the province of Atherdale. While out on a mission with a group of Initiates from the nearby Claw of Arali base Cloverhall, the Claw Jumps Through Lies engaged the Rampager in combat after it attacked his group, resulting in his death. The death of Jumps Through Lies incensed his friend Erdo Elfast, who began a long campaign of research and tracking to take revenge on the beast.
Through the rest of 988 and into 989, the Rampager's trail of destruction continued to grow as it wandered aimlessly throughout the province, indiscriminately attacking people and wildlife as it wandered. In 989, Erdo Elfast, along with a group from Cloverhall ventured out into the Scratchwood to visit the Cold Lady, who gave the group information regarding the Rampager's true nature.
After conducting more research on the creature, Erdo was able to discern its weaknesses, and began hunting it across eastern Atherdale, eventually cornering it in the Scratchwood. Joining up with the Cursebusters, the group tracked the Rampager down and led a final attack against its, driving multiple silver spears into its body and ending the menace for good at Erdo slowly and painfully removed its head from its body. However, the catharsis of the moment was short lived, as the body was soon after whisked away by the Green Hand, putting an air of uncertainty upon the Rampager's fate.
