Beckley is a moderately size hamlet located a few hours south of Reedenford in Atherdale. It is a farming town with a primary focus on livestock including sheep, cows, and pigs. The town falls under the taxation umbrella of Reedenford, and is an important contributor to its export economy.
History
Beckley was formed soon after attempts to drain the soil surrounding the Muckmeer Swamp lead to unprecedented fertility in the nearby land. While the land was not stable enough for large crop harvesting, it proved a perfect environment for the raising of livestock. Reedenford's economy gained a massive boost from exporting goods and animals through merchants traveling between Bucktuck City and Nightrook, and Beckley soon became an integral part of the town's income.
In Iron 989, Beckley's sheep began to disappear, leaving only large puddles of dried blood behind. The situation worsened when a local child, Orin Wenslow, was also taken, soon resulting in an investigation by 3 members of the Clover Company of the Claw of Arali. After staking out the field where the sheep were being taken from, the guild members tracked a creature into a nearby cave, discovering and slaying a lone hellbeck. Due to the nature of the creature's corrosive blood, the guild assumed the worst for the missing child, and returned to Reedenford with the corpse of the beast.
