History

At some point around 930 IaC or so, Iratha traveled to Sanaris from Atavar to serve as a lecturer on magic. He found the "civilized" elves of Sanaris to be highly wary of outsiders, and particularly caustic to those without elven heritage. Despite this, he remained for a time until he shared his acumen in life magic with a devil in disguise as a member of the Council of DreamersDeowyn Centhos. Fearing Iratha's abilities in manipulating souls and how they might be used to disrupt the plans of Etarus, Deowyn publically ousted Iratha as a necromancer, turning the public's ire against him. Deowyn then captured Iratha, sequestering him in a small prison cell located within a Unknown of Deowyn's own design. As the extent of Iratha's abilities were unknown to him, and he was afraid he would be able to disrupt the devils' abilities to possess others, Iratha was kept here for around 20 years. He was tortured by the devils to reveal his knowledge of life alchemy, but Iratha's keen mind kept him from breaking.

In 951, Iratha was found by Phaelnah Ellarian, Tyerjon, Inglis Alexandar and Ryla Mulaweyrn, who had discovered the Devil's Nook during their search for the wizard Yoxxel, who had been taken by Deowyn. The group freed Iratha, who offered his knowledge and expertise in return. Iratha managed to decipher how to activate Deowyn's hell portal, and opened the way for the group to follow. Despite his weakened state, Iratha proved himself a valuable ally, fighting through devil legions utilizing the abilities of Soulcaster, which Phaelnah had given him to use for the time being. He was able to use his skill in life alchemy to harvest the souls of the defeated devils, later forming them into a un-living palisade of ghosts against the devil forces that approached from the real. Iratha was also able to catch the soul of Yoxxel when her body was destroyed, preventing it from being lost to the pull of the hellish planes.

Iratha was brought back to Madrioc by Phaelnah, ending up in Dragon's End. He offered his services to the elf in restoring the body of her daughter Yoxxel, but warned that her soul had been tainted by the souls of devils, and that his services wouldn't be free. Iratha took up a temporary residence in the mansion to begin his work.
