A small village in the north of Larchest, located on the edge of the Dire Expanse. It is a small town made up of around 20 or so houses, all located along the main road that heads towards the Expanse. The town has almost no natural resources, and seems to be fueled primarily by the foolhardy adventurers that venture into the wastes beyond.

Locations

The inn in town is Nell's Nook, run by a small but peppy young lady known as Nelly Opin. It's a decently well run inn, with good food and drink at fair prices. Nelly does not seem interested in swindling her customers, honoring the long line of Nells in her lineage that have run the bar for years.

The general store is known as Death's Doorstep, and is morbidly themed, possibly to fit the idea that most who venture into the Dire Expanse usually end up dead. Black felt and paint adorn the walls, as well as skulls, bones, and various trophies from monsters. It is run by Kassiri Turntell, a tall, slender woman with long black hair, and a vested interest in the more gruesome aspects of life.

There is a magic shop of sorts in town, run by an old halfling by the name of Forsich Oldbirch.  He is gruff and impatient, and a relentless smoker. He has some basic magic items for sale, but he seems more interested in conducting his own research than servicing customers.

History

In Iron 922, a group of adventurers led an expedition originating from Nofrighast into the Dire Expanse. The adventurers did not return, but strange beings began to attack the town intermittently afterwards, culminating in the capital sending out a group of soldiers and mercenaries out into the Expanse to handle the problem in Iron 935.
