Ven'laen Halhes is an elven member of the Emerald Guard. He volunteered to help escort the aid caravan from Hymathel to Peralas at Deowyn Centhos' request. He is a kind, gentle man, but is capable in a fight when he needs to be, and will not shy away from positions of leadership. He plays the lute well, and seems particularly fond of Phaelnah Ellarian.
Description
Ven'laen is an elf of average height. He has a lean figure, but is slightly muscular, which by elven standards, implies he has great strength. He has neatly kept brown hair that tends to get messed up near the end of the day. He has a kind face that is often pushed into a more serious expression when he is on the job. He wears the traditional armor of the Emerald Guard.
Ven'laen is kind, but focused when he needs to be. As evidenced by his handling of the zealots attacking the caravan, he does not shy away from death. He is somewhat of a flirt.
Skills and Abilities
At the very least, Ven'laen had the physical prowess and skill to pass the rigorous exams of the Emerald Guard.
History
Ven'laen first met with the Peas alongside the aid caravan to Peralas. Along the road, especially after the fight with the Champion Valka, Ven'laen made multiple attempts to spark conversation with Phaelnah Ellarian, relatively undeterred by both her somewhat monstrous appearance and her general disinterest in him. When trapped in a barn by a large storm, Ven'laen spent most of his time playing a lute.
During the attack by the Divine Branch, Ven'laen protected the caravan almost single-handedly, with minor injuries. He presented a magical key that opened up the barrier around Peralas, and went on to take a long rest, still in bed when the Peas went off to visit Lake Faelance.
Ven'laen accompanied the Peas during their return visit to the temple at the heart of Lake Faelance and desperately tried to enjoy the rituals of the temple, but eventually gave up. He continued to flirt with Phaelnah during the group's return to Hymathel, but kept a respectable distance at her request.
After finding out about the chaos taking place in the city, Ven'laen moved quickly to help, eventually taking up a post among the Emerald Guard fighting back the invading demons.
