The Lake of Hands is a large lake located within the Nightspell Marches of the Nightspell Moors. There are many dark stories associated with the lake, and travelers who are brave enough to enter the swamps still tend to veer clear of the lake.
In Iron 951, during the city of Madrioc's assault on Zahast, a suicide task force made up of a number of devils including Vetraxu was deployed to the lake to set up a ley energy-focusing beacon by its far shore with the help of the enchanter Avelos the Learned. Strange, shadow-like creatures emerged from the lake's murky waters, attacking the devils as they protected the beacon. Ultimately, most of the devils managed to survive the affair, but brought back with them more reasons to avoid the hostile waters.
