Immortal Ogre

The Unstoppable

The Immortal Ogre is a somewhat larger than average size ogre that is bound to the Kingleader Dagger. It is functionally immortal and apparently unstoppable once it is focused on a target, as elected by the magical dagger's strike.

Description

The Immortal Ogre is a large, hulking ogre. It has a formidable musculature and a healthy amount of body fat, which for an ogre results in a slightly distended gut. Two large tusks erupt from its lower jaw, and it is bald with two dull, grey eyes.

The ogre is generally non-responsive and refuses to communicate. If it is not seeking a target, it simply sits listlessly, and engages no one. On one occassion, it was observed hushing a creature who irritated it. It is also not incapable of compassion, as it did assist the rogue Wander when he was trapped under a pile of rubble, albeit after from persuasion.

Skills and Abilities

The ogre is extremely powerful and rather fast, apparently drawing upon an infinite well of stamina to chase down his quarry. It is functionally immortal, and will not die regardless of how many greivous wounds it receives; it will slowly heal its wounds over a matter of days. Its bones are apparently unbreakable, and it does not appear to require sleep, food, drink, or air to survive.

When the ogre is directed towards a target by the Kingleader Dagger, it will not stop until it has attacked the subject of the dagger. It has been witnessed swimming at high speed, tunneling through rock, and bounding with immeasurable haste across mountain ranges.

History

Presumably, the ogre was bound to the Kingleader Dagger at some point in its life. It is unknown whether the abilities it possesses are granted by the dagger itself, or if it already had these powers beforehand.

The adventuring party the Peas discovered the ogre in a boat stolen by the bandits of Ventrex Caustar around the Tevari Isles, chained up next to Seamus McHammerface in the brig. During the party's fight with a number of slime constructs, the ogre sat around, disinterested in the conflict. He later hushed the party when they began to aggravate him. The Kingleader Dagger was located in the hold of the ship, though the party was unaware of its powers at the time. The ogre was thought to have died as the ship was crashed into the shallows off the coast of Sordin Isle.

It was later revealed that the ogre was connected to the dagger, after the Peas' encounter with the demon Yyk Sen. The rogue Wander had attacked the demon with the magic dagger, and days later the ogre showed up at the spot where some of Yyk Sen's discarded flesh still laid, pummeling and then sitting still. The guards of the Madrioc Commission attempted to dispatch of the ogre, but despite their best efforts the beast could not be moved, much less killed. The ogre's position outside of Hazerhorn was cordoned off and a new, temporary path was made around it, and rumors of an immortal beast spread throughout the city.

The ogre moved on after being summoned again when Wander used the dagger against the demigod Tarisi under Lake Faelance. The ogre showed up a day later, pummeling the altar that Tarisi was sealed in, sitting listlessly afterwards. Wander managed to convince the ogre to help free him from under a pile of rubble, but the ogre did little more than sit around after the act.

The ogre was later summoned to the Battle for the Sun, where he showed up in a few days to pummel a creature of Jylurm, sitting in the middle of the warzone afterwards. Despite the dagger being used on a shadowy manifestation of the dwarven warrior Leadbelly Balnar, the ogre didn't budge, perhaps due to the magical barrier around the activation point interrupting the connection to it. The dagger was later used against the Nightseeker, prompting the ogre to show up a few hours later, leaping off of the sea floor in the Unknown to reach the corpse of the elf, which was being transported in a bone cage manifested by the Tearful. The ogre tore through the cage to reach the corpse as the Peas took action, with Seamus Mchammerface pulling up a corpse from the ocean to be stabbed by Wander's dagger, giving the ogre a new target to smash. The corpse was thrown into the sea, with the ogre following close behind.

The ogre was later summoned to Dragon's End to have him present at a party thrown in celebration of winning the Battle for the Sun. The ogre appeared, and slumped down at the point of contact in the yard of the manor, refusing to speak with anyone.

The ogre continued to be summoned at regular intervals by Wander throughout the rogue's various exploits, which included various battles in the Great Throne War. The ogre became feared due to its tenacity and immortal nature. It was also sighted on multiple occasions across Atavar, particularly in the Kalhastian Empire.
