The day started with a commotion in the tavern: the flamboyant drow warlock, Veldryn, had been transformed into a sheep by an unknown curse. This was no prank; the curse stemmed from the internal conflict of his former family, House Faen Tlabbar, and was a punishment from Matron Vadalma for Veldryn's perceived betrayal. The curse was tied to a fey ritual, allowing Veldryn to revert to his drow form for only four hours at midnight.
The party—now including a fuzzy, four-legged Veldryn—traveled to Menzoberranzan, the infamous drow city.
In a sprawling lower-district market, amid the stench of fungal rot and the glowing spider silk, Sam Sina met Lirienn Duskbane, a secretive worshipper of Eilistraee. Lirienn confirmed the curse's source: a Feyheart Orb in Vadalma’s sanctum. She offered clues but demanded a favor: the party must sabotage a Faen Tlabbar patrol first. The mission was clear: break the curse and thwart Vadalma's plans.
The first path to Vadalma’s sanctum led through glowing caverns pulsating with faerzress, a magical radiation that distorted spells.
Next, they crossed a cavern draped in thick webs, avoiding traps set by Vadalma’s minions. Belbol, Veldryn's Displacer Beast pet, led the way, its instincts proving invaluable in navigating the deadly spider silk. They passed successfully, netting themselves a useful Vial of Spider Venom.
With Seraine saved, they proceeded to the final antechamber. A glowing pedestal held the Feyheart Orb, surrounded by three floating glyphs: Moon (Eilistraee), Web (Lolth), and Shadow (Archfey). The wall carvings provided the cryptic solution: "Moonlight frees, Webs bind, Shadows deceive." Correct activation shattered the glyphs, and Veldryn, for his remaining hours of freedom, reverted to his drow form for the final battle.
