Bromocorah Inc. is a notorious yet respected adventuring guild operating primarily along the trade routes connecting Waterdeep, the “City of Splendors,” and Silverymoon, the “Gem of the North,” in Faerûn’s Savage Frontier. Known for its chaotic yet effective band of adventurers, the guild specializes in caravan protection, monster hunting, and uncovering lost relics in the wilds of the North. The guild’s reputation is a double-edged sword: their unhinged methods deliver results, but their antics often leave clients both relieved and exasperated. Bromocorah Inc. is headquartered in a fortified waystation called Bromocorah Hold, strategically located halfway between Waterdeep and Silverymoon along the Long Road.
The guild’s name, “Bromocorah,” is derived from an old elven term meaning “storm of blades,” reflecting their aggressive, no-holds-barred approach to adventuring. Despite their wild reputation, their leaders’ tactical brilliance and the guild’s knack for surviving impossible odds have made them a fixture in the region.
Bromocorah Inc. dominates the Long Road, a vital trade route stretching roughly 600 miles between Waterdeep and Silverymoon, passing through towns like Red Larch, Triboar, and Yartar. The road is perilous, plagued by orc raiders, hill giants, and harsh winters, making the guild’s services indispensable
Bromocorah Hold, their headquarters, is a fortified stone keep near Triboar, built on the ruins of a Netherese watchtower. It features a great hall filled with trophies (dragon skulls, giant axes, etc.).
- A magical ward system maintained by Demit to repel intruders.
- A chaotic tavern, The Storm’s Rest, where guild members brawl and plan missions.
- Hidden vaults for storing relics and gold, guarded by traps and a pet rust monster named “Nibbles.”
The guild operates with loose hierarchy: Kilionzel and Demit assign missions, but members have autonomy, leading to creative (and often disastrous) solutions. Recruits must survive a trial called the “Gauntlet of Bromocorah,” a grueling test involving combat, traps, and a drinking contest.
Bromocorah Inc. is a paradox: celebrated for their success, infamous for their chaos. Merchants hire them for their unmatched survival rate but brace for property damage or diplomatic incidents. Key relationships include:
Waterdeep: The Lords of Waterdeep tolerate the guild for their effectiveness against threats like the Xanathar Guild but watch them closely, wary of Demit’s drow heritage. Kilionzel has a grudging respect for Open Lord Laeral Silverhand.
Silverymoon: The guild enjoys favor with the city’s arcane community, as Demit collaborates with the Conclave of Silverymoon. However, their rowdy behavior clashes with Silverymoon’s refined culture.
Harpers: The Harpers admire Kilionzel’s leadership but distrust Demit, suspecting lingering ties to the Underdark. The guild occasionally aids Harper missions against Zhentarim plots.
Zhentarim: The Black Network views Bromocorah Inc. as a rival, leading to frequent skirmishes over caravan contracts. The guild’s unpredictability frustrates Zhentarim schemes.
Local Tribes: Uthgardt barbarians and hill giants have a love-hate relationship with the guild, respecting their strength but resenting their interference.
The guild’s unhinged members spark frequent controversies, like the time Airish accidentally burned down a Red Larch barn during a goblin raid, or when Bruno challenged a hill giant chieftain to a drinking contest, winning a truce but leveling a tavern.
Bromocorah Inc. embodies the wild, adventurous spirit of the Savage Frontier. They’re a dysfunctional family of misfits who thrive on chaos, yet their loyalty to each other and their leaders is unbreakable. Their missions blend high-stakes action with absurd humor—think epic battles interrupted by a bard’s ill-timed serenade or a wizard’s misfired spell. Kilionzel and Demit’s dynamic, blending her martial discipline with his arcane cunning, anchors the guild, while their unconventional marriage challenges Faerûn’s prejudices.
