"There is still time"
She was born in the small, unmapped village in the foot of the Sword Mountains, the majority of villagers are farmers and shepherd, governed by the Clergy of Ilmater. There, she grew up with her childhood friends, Jocasta the cleric and Kreon the bard.
Ever since they were children, Kreon had dreamed to be adventurers along with her and Jocasta. However, Ioanna's mother had borne her in her 130s, and she had to give up on that dream to take care of her mother. Meanwhile, Jocasta was tied to her duties in the Clergy that she hadn't left. Kreon left the village by himself 12 years ago to realise his dreams. They, however, still kept in touch through letters.
That was until, 2 years ago, Jocasta left the village without telling anyone. She sent her an ominous letter before going off contact. Around the same time, Kreon hadn't sent her any letters, either. Ioanna was left in the village, wondering what happened to her friends, but couldn't leave her bedridden mother. Could it be that her friends have abandoned her? Ioanna couldn't believe it, not the kindhearted Jocasta or the curious Kreon that she knew, surely?
It was half a year ago that she buried her mother. As she stood grieving in front of that grave she spent years of her youth on, she was haunted by another thought:
'I'm afraid I've wasted too much time.'
That day, she packed all her belongings and sold her house before leaving with her familiar companion, Kucing. Twelve years after she was supposed to become adventurer bands with her missing friends.
As Ioanna and Kucing traveled to the cities, a lot of guilds rejected her for her older starting age. When she was finally accepted in one, they kept her as unpaid intern and made her do housework instead of adventuring. Pissed, she left that adventuring guild. BroMoCoRah was her lucky break after dozens of rejections. She was wary at first on how too good to be true it was, but slowly settled nicely.
Today, too, Ioanna spends her afternoon in the tavern's lively hall, watching her new, "younger" friends bicker and fall into shenanigans. They remind her of her and her childhood friends' adventuring play-pretend as a kid. One of these days, she might meet them again.
