The Book of Birth

And it came to pass, when the spirit of man was loosed from the cords of flesh, that it wandered the shadowed paths betwixt the worlds.

And lo, the veil was lifted, and the soul beheld the Womb of Zera, that holy vessel which is not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Then did the soul tremble, and was drawn as the tide to the sea, yea, as the babe to the bosom of the mother.

And Zera opened her arms, which are as the folds of the earth and the depths of the sea, and she received them unto her secret places.

There within did she cleanse them, with waters of forgetting and of fire; she anointed them with the oil of remembrance, that they might not be wholly lost.

And she spake, saying, Lo, I am the Mother of Endings and Beginnings. None pass beyond me, and none remain within me forever.

For all souls are Mine, and I keep them in the hollow of My womb until the time be fulfilled.

I sew them as seed into the field of the world, that they might rise again in flesh, each according to their purpose, each according to their need.

The child returneth to the cradle, and the elder unto the dust; but I make all things new, and I remember what ye forget.

Blessed be the Name of Zera, for in her there is no death, but the turning of the wheel; no end, but only the drawing of breath anew.

And the wise shall say, We die not, but we are gathered; we end not, but we are sown.

Therefore be not afraid when thy breath departeth, neither let thy heart be troubled at the parting of the soul.

For the Mother waiteth, and her womb is wide; her mercy endureth from age to age, and her purpose shall not fail.

Glory be to Zera, the ever-bearing, the ever-burning, the ever-returning. Amen.
