For most sailing Wind Callers are able to direct and manipulate small vessels that operate in the calmer waters off the coasts of most of the major landmasses of the world. However in the deep ocean that lies between the landmasses the seas are so wild that no Wind Caller has ever been able to calm them. This means that ships crossing the oceans must be dragged by enourmous sea creatures called Snorn.
