Previous Episode: Sands of Time - S01 E02
Emerging from the portal into the heart of a vast desert, the adventurers beheld, in the distance, a large sandstone structure engraved with an hourglass, an ancient symbol that beckoned them forward. The group—Jack ‘Jacky’ Can, Butters P. Nutts, Emberglow, Juulia Troski, and Davkas Grosko—approached with caution, their eyes fixed on the temple that loomed in the distance. As they traveled on, they encountered the gatekeeper of the temple, half of his face a disintegrating mask of sand. After a brief confrontation, the gatekeeper's life was taken. The adventurers pressed on, reaching the temple's gates, where sandstone knights, stood guard. A battle ensued and the party defeated two of the knights and they crumbled to dust after which they entered the temple. Inside the temple, they find six statues of gods surrounding a serene pond. By casting golden rocks into the pond, the adventurers triggered a mechanism, opening a trapdoor that swept them into the bowels of the earth.
Below, in a cavern, they faced off against three Sand Skulkers, lizard-like creatures with scales of sandstone. Amidst the darkness, a familiar figure emerged— Nash Gu'lad, the retired pirate, who had found his own way to the temple. Reunited, the party ventured deeper into the dungeon, discovering relics and puzzles. In a secluded tomb, they found the resting place of Alaric Kadir, founder of Khar Benidir. Jack Can's clever hands solved a puzzle, revealing a Bag of Holding and a Deck of Mysteries. But fate is often a double-edged sword; as Butters drew a card adorned with an arrow, he was struck by a spectral arrow that nearly claimed his life. Elsewhere, Juulia Troski and Davkas braved the wrath of a Dust Devil, a swirling menace of stones and air, their survival hanging by a thread. Their exploration led them to a cage imprisoning a small, silent girl, her eyes wide with unspoken fears. Nash won her trust, and they named her Abby after the Aboleth, a monstrous creature that soon emerged from the deep waters of a large cavern. The battle was fierce, and just as defeat seemed imminent, Abby approached the beast, transforming it into a small fish with a touch, before collapsing into unconsciousness. With Abby in tow, the adventurers climbed back to the surface and took a long rest.
