Previous Episode: Sands of Time - S01 E03
After the escape from the dungeon beneath the Sands of Time Temple, the adventurers found themselves gathered around a campfire in the desert, in the morning of 53 Asdeh 2979 ADM. As they prepared for the day ahead, Davkas Grosko handed Butters P. Nutts a curious mushroom, which soon sent Butters into a world of hallucinations. Among these visions, a mysterious tavern shimmered in the distance, invisible to the others until Butters insisted they follow. Guided by the hallucination, the group stumbled upon the very real tavern, where they encountered Gundo, a worldly traveler with a thirst for knowledge. Gundo was on a quest to find a hidden library in the desert, home to the Lorekeeper (Juul Troski), Juul Troski, who protected the vast and ancient knowledge of Eredonia. Intrigued, the adventurers joined Gundo, traversing the barren landscape until they uncovered the tiny tower that marked the library’s entrance, buried beneath the sand.
Descending into the depths of the buried library, they met the Lorekeeper himself. Juul Troski struck a deal with the adventurers to investigate the whereabouts of the Sands of Time. Through their research, they learned that the Sands of Time had already been moved from the temple they had recently escaped and that Billy Ryler, a notorious rogue known for his heists, was likely the thief. Then suddenly the library was invaded by the Book Burners, a cult driven to destroy the knowledge Juul guarded, believing it too dangerous to exist. A fierce battle ensued, and though the adventurers triumphed over the cultists, the library began to succumb to flames. In the chaos of their escape, the cult’s leader attacked, and Gundo made the ultimate sacrifice, throwing himself at the leader to ensure his new friends' survival. Climbing the rope out of the sinking library, the adventurers watched as it disappeared into the sand, taking Gundo and its secrets with it. In the final moments, Emberglow managed to salvage the Book of Time, a tome detailing the full history of Eredonia and the secrets of time manipulation. Among its pages was information about the Time Key, a crucial element needed to activate the Sands of Time. With the library gone and a long journey ahead, Abby, now awake, transformed sand into water, providing the group with vital sustenance for their trek back to Khar Benidir, a week’s journey to the north.
