Lords and Legacies (Ronerborg) - S01 E01

In the year 1632 ADM, Grombel arrived at the gates of Eldar, the town ruled by Therald, Lord of Favelion. He was soon reunited with Sisu, Bubi and Norica, old friends who had not seen one another for nearly twenty years. Once the entire group had gathered, the gates opened and they were welcomed by Aelar, Therald’s right-hand man, captain of the guard and another old companion. Aelar brought them to the castle, where Therald explained why he had summoned them. His treasured heirloom, the Coin of Egador, had been stolen, and he trusted only his old friends to recover it. The group searched Therald’s room and questioned the guards, who revealed that the castle’s usual supplier, Old Otto, had recently been replaced by a mysterious younger man. The party followed the lead to a warehouse by the river, where they found Old Otto dead and confronted the mysterious supplier. The man summoned three kung fu chickens to delay them before escaping toward the nearby mill. After defeating the chickens, the party chased him down, but he fled through a window in a homemade hot-air balloon. Norica attempted to blow the balloon off course with a gust of wind, but accidentally pushed the flame into the fabric. The balloon caught fire, crashed near the river and was swept away. Only the man’s burned jacket remained. Bubi searched it and discovered a damaged emblem resembling the seal of House Ravenblood, as well as the missing Coin of Egador.

When the party returned to the castle, they found Therald dead from poisoning and his council gathered around the body. The adventurers were immediately blamed, arrested and thrown into prison, though Bubi managed to hide the coin in his underwear. Their escape attempts failed, with Grombel becoming stuck between the bars and Norica unsuccessfully asking a rather unintelligent rat named Henry for help. Aelar eventually arrived and revealed that he did not believe they had murdered Therald. Convinced that a conspiracy was unfolding, he freed them and directed them toward a secret passage leading into the mountains. Guards soon gave chase, forcing Aelar to remain behind and hold them off. He was impaled by the guards’ spears, but his sacrifice gave the party enough time to collapse the tunnel entrance behind them. The session ended with Bubi, Norica, Grombel and Sisu trapped beneath the mountains, framed for Therald’s murder and carrying the only evidence linking the theft to House Ravenblood.
