The Obsidian Blade

The Obsidian Blade is an ancient cult thought to be dedicated to the Lords of the Abyss

In-Game Knowledge

  • According to a member of The Ivies, the Obsidian Blade may be trying to summon an entity named Brag'dronath
  • Even The Order of Whispers — hardly known for its altruism — seems to be concerned about the Obsidian Blade's activities.
  • Some of the Obsidian Blade's members wield ceremonial daggers made of the titular material. Small red gems stud the pommel, though the number varies by member.

Initiation

Prospective members of the Obsidian Blade must first make a sacrifice to the Lord of the Abyss whose powers they wish to channel. This sacrifice was invariably of a sentient humanoid, and often involved a great deal of torment. The greater the bond between the sacrifice and the initiate, the greater the power gained from the initiation.

History

Factions

While many of those aware of the Obsidian Blade may think of them as a united front, they are anything but. The ancient cult has split into two main factions. While both seek to rid Aghera of the gods' influence, they disagree about the methods and end goal. One faction sees the Lords of the Abyss as a means to an end and eventually seeks to destroy them as well, once Aghera's mortals reclaim the gods' powers; the other faction believe that the Lords of the Abyss will eventually rule Aghera with or without their help and have decided to throw in their lot with the Abyssal powers.

Lords of the Abyss

Every Lord of the Abyss is worshipped by members of the Obsidian Blade, with the notable exception of Jorzath. The two most commonly worshipped are Iz'geruuth and Kalmakuug
