- She and her brother, Kellyn Faertorzza, were rescued from the middle of the ocean by the crew of the Dauntless. Due to a series of highly improbable events, the crew were unable to communicate with the drow until Misha came aboard — at which point they learned that the siblings would like to return home.
- Unlike Kellyn, Zarae preferred to return home when asked by Misha what they'd like to do next. Upon Kellyn's insistence, however, she agreed to stay aboard the Dauntless.
