The Three Great Elvish Kings, also called the Three High Elvish Kings, were the three leaders of the Exile of the Elves who all split to found the Great Elvish Realms. Their realms are the origins of the High Elf race and these kings are considered the first of each High Elvish race.

The Three Great Elvish Kings were each chosen by one of the Gods. They and a third of the Elvish pilgrims each received visions from one deity showing them where to go and who to swear allegiance to, causing the party to split.

Sirda selected Sylvanion, for he was Her most devoted servant.

Sha selected Felaern, for he was the greatest musician of all the Elves, capable of moving mountains with his verses.

Beld selected the lowly Glorandal. Glorandal was not a king, or a lord, or a warrior. He was a peaceful gardener, friend to the nature spirits of the land but otherwise little known. However, Beld respected his humility, kindness, and peacibility.

Sylvanion, King Under the Stars

Sylvanion and his host received a vision of a coast of glittering gems of pure starlight, hidden behind tall mountains. They came to the coast, naming it Fangardh, or "Starlight Coast", and made their home there, carving great cities into the large mountains on the coastline and crafting great works, weapons, jewelries, and works of art from the glittering gems of starlight that were mixed into the sand and occasionally rained from the sky onto the divine beach. Upon their arrival, they were met by Gilris, an angel of Beld. Initially meant to guide and guard the realm, she fell in love with King Sylvanion, and the two were wed shortly after his arrival to the beach. The Elves of Fangardh also became great sailors and navigators, and are responsible for much of the world's maps. Most seafaring and coastal cultures and peoples have legends of encountering angelic and graceful Elves on the seas or at their shores. His people would be called the Silver Elf.

Felaern, King of Ice and Snow

Felaern and his host received a vision of a forest of white trees in a vast arctic waste. His journey was the most tumultuous, and his people spent many years trudging through snow, ice, and blizzard, at great cost of life, before finally coming upon the mountain. Using powerful magicks, the Elves constructed a mighty city, the great realm of Lysbar, meaning "White Forest". It was the greatest of the Three Elvish Realms. In the cold wastes, Felaern nursed great forests of white trees with magical wood. However, the Dark Lord Malagazh eyed the trees greedily, and in the early chaotic years of the Fourth Age, he struck, killing the King's husband, Prince Merlodion during the a patrol. In his grief, the King brought forth his greatest army to face the Dark Lord, and in a hard-fought battle, the King and Dark Lord both died, but the Dark Lord's forces were able to sack Lysbar, destroying the greatest of the Elvish Realms, leading to the extinction of the White Trees. The Elves of Lysbar scattered, resettling across the world, with some making their way to the other Elvish realms. Some remain in Lysbar, as the Snow Elves, but they are a shadow of their former glory, resigned to small villages and port towns. His people would be called the Snow Elf.

Glorandal, King of Leaves

Glorandal and his host received a vision of a thick and magical forest, with tall trees of endless autumn colors. They were the first to find their destination, and began building homes in the trees and caves of the deep forest, which Glorandal named "Leor", meaning "Hope". His realm remained the most involved in the affairs of the outside world, as it now sits between Urum and Morktan. Glorandal keeps up trading relations with many of the nations of the world, and his realm prospers from commerce and cultural exchange, though outsiders are expected to stay to the realm's one road, the Veelroad. His people would be called the Sun Elf.
