Sethen's Defeat of Kagesi is a mythological event which occurred during the First Age in which the legendary Human Prince and adventuerer Unknown defeated the dragon Kagesi. The event is an important part of world mythology, as it is the origin for the city of Kardunash.

Narrative

In the First Age, though the World knew peace, all knew to fear the dreaded dragons. They were foul and dangerous beasts who killed thousands with fire, ice, and gnashing teeth.

In the year 1200 of the First Age, in his travels around the ancient world, Unknown sailed to an island in the middle of the Great Sea and came upon the lair of the dragon Kagesi, where several Celestials and Fae were being held hostage. The captives implored Sethen for help. The dragon had been warned by an oracle that a Human with white hair would spell his doom, and when he saw Sethen approaching he recoiled and hid. Sethen spent many days and nights among the hostages in disguise, eating with them and enjoying festivities. He put mud in his hair to darken it, thereby appearing to have brown hair. Thus disguised, he met the dragon in its lair, brandishing a magical spear gifted to him from Oorlog. Seeing his normal appearance, Kagesi assumed that Sethen was a normal man, and so he emerged to kill and eat him as he had done to many before. However, Sethen's fast reflexes and great power caught the dragon off guard, and before he could think to dodge the Prince thrust his spear through the dragon's mouth and out the back of his head, slaying the evil beast.

Following his victory, Sethen was granted the land surrounding the old lair to found a city of Beldkind, which he called Kardunash. Kardunash would be the furthest western point of Deshenite civilization and remains the oldest continually inhabited settlement in the World and the World's largest city.
