Voramar, meaning "Nation of Fire" in Voramese, is a nation located in central Avanar in the lush and fertile lands surrounding Attirrazo. It is a prosperous and peaceful nation owing to its fertile soils, mineral wealth, and geographic isolation. It is an ancient civilization, with an unbroken line of Vorakha dating back thousands of years.
Geography
To the east, Voramar has thick jungles of large and crowded trees, teeming with flora and fauna. Here, elephants roam and monkeys dart across treetops. There are few inhabitants of this thick and inhospitable jungle, though many nature spirits call it home. In the west is the main inhabited portion of Voramar. Fed by nutrient-rich volcanic soil, farming is bountiful and rich, rivaling the great agricultural centers of Dasurkat and Arcanopolis. It is also an incredibly urbanized region, with the capital of Vas Zhorkir sitting here. To make room for farmland, most of the major cities are built into the mountains which border the nation. While this was more inconvenient to construct, it has allowed nearly all of the arable land of Voramar to be utilized for farming purposes.
Government
Voramar is a hereditary monarchy ruled by a Kha ("King"). The Kha also holds the title of "Steward of the Eternal Flame," a statement of their religious significance. The Kha is the head of a dynasty which has ruled Voramar unbroken for millennia, rivaling the House of Davshad and Great Houses of Kardunash. The Kha is both the head of the state and the leader of the Order of the Fire Sages. The highest-ranking sages of the Order make up the Council of the Fire Sages, an upper house of their legislature. The lower house, called the Popular Assembly, is specifically closed to members of the Order and the nobility, being preserved for the commoners to elect representatives from amongst themselves to serve.
Culture
Fire is central to Voramese culture. The predominant color of clothing and architecture is red, and stone is the most commonly used construction material. Pyromancy is seen as a holy art in Voramar and the Order of the Fire Sages are all powerful pyromancers. Though the ruling class are by no means the only pyromancers. Pyromancy is uncommonly common in Voramar, and it is believed that this may be attributed to the magic of Pomisi, who gifted the first Kha the art of pyromancy. Those who are gifted in pyromancy are considered to have been given the "Dragon's Kiss" and they are encouraged to develop this skill. The inherent power of pyromancy also makes Voramar a formidable military power, though they have rarely left their valley.
Due to the warm climate of Voramar, the people often wear long flowing robes, more similar to Yekari attire than their Sunatau and Kammikan neighbors. The heat of Attirrazo has made it a home of many fire dragons, who, like in Xiao, live at peace with the Vormamese. Like Xiao, the elites of Voramar often ride dragons.
Fire itself is seen as holy to the Vormaese people. Flames are worshipped, the dead are cremated, and it is believed that looking into dragonflame may grant prophetic visions. The people of Voramar worship Pomisi, a dragon believed to have created Attirrazo and said to still reside within and fuel the volcano and consequently the valley's life. Upon their coronation, each Vorakha makes their way into the forbidden chamber of Attirrazo to consult with her, though they are forbidden on pain of death to discuss what they saw or spoke about while in her presence.
