House Blackwolf of Wolftown is a noble house sworn to House Orthed. The head of House Blackwolf is often referred to as "the Blackwolf." Members of House Blackwolf tend to have shaggy jet-black hair and cold grey eyes. They have a reputation of being stern and stoic.
The Blackwolfs are one of the most important bannermen to House Orthed and are capable of raising nearly as many men-at-arms as their liege lords.
House Blackwolf is an ancient and prestigious house. According to legend, the Blackwolfs have ruled Wolf's Town since nearly as long as House Orthed has ruled Deadhill. The first member of House Blackwolf was Bella Blackwolf. According to legend, her mother was a Unknown spirit who transformed into a human woman and seduced a local farmer, resulting in the birth of twins, a human girl (Bella) and a male wolf. She became a renowned warrior and rode her brother in battle as a mount. She was knighted by Queen Aenella II Orthed, naming her house Blackwolf after her mother.
The Blackwolfs would eventually rule the area around Wolf's Town as petty monarchs for a time but had been revassalized by House Orthed by the Pelegonic Conquest.
In the modern day, the Blackwolfs raise Unknown, said to be descended from Bella Blackwolf’s mother. The wolves and the Blackwolfs are spiritually linked, and though a human may outlive the wolf, the wolves will invariably die upon the death of their master. It is custom amongst the members of House Blackwolf to wear pelts made from the fur of previous greatwolves.
