Samari

The Samari (Celestial for "Cold Ones") are a race of Human native to northern Hatmagal. They had a history of fear of the Tall Men and still regard the Ringlands as cursed. They maintain good relationships with the Frost Giant, who they believe impart good fortune. The Samari have blue skin, bright and cold eyes, and pale hair. They are cold to the touch and move with a graceful sleekness.

The Samari live in a handful of isolated city states, all loosely strung together in a democratic confederacy, though in reality each city effectively functions as a republican city-state. The cities of the Samari are known for the bright beams of light which they blast into the sky at night as a means of giving directions to travelers lost in the inhospitable snow wastes. Samari are known to tame and keep owls, polar bears, seals, and penguins as pets. They also ride polar bears, yetis, and other snow beasts in lieu of horses.
