Unnefer Netos, the current Pharon
The Pharon is the head of state of Kardunash.
Elected from the Archons of the Kardunashi Council by their fellow Archons, the Pharon serves for life. To prevent one of the Great Houses of Kardunash from achieving too much power, once a member of one house serves as Pharon, members of their family are forbidden from serving as Pharon until two other Pharons' terms have come and gone. Additionally, though the Grandmaster of Strixhaven and the High Priest of the Order of Zot have seats on the Council, they are forbidden from serving as Pharon.
The Pharon is officially the first among equals of the Council, however they have significant special powers which leave them slightly more powerful than the other Archons. Firstly, the vote of the Pharon counts as two votes, and should there be a tie in voting, the Pharon casts the tie-breaking vote. Additionally, the Pharon oversees several ceremonial and cultural observances and serves as the republic's chief diplomat.
