The Archpriest of Pelegon is the head of the Pelegonic Church and the chief religious authority in Pelegon. The Archpriest is elected by the High Priests of the Pelegonic Church and serves for life. When becoming Archpriest, the priest gives up their birth name and takes a holy name, typically one of a saint or important religious figure.
It is customary that during the coronation of the Shahanshah, the Archpriest places the crown upon the Shahanshah's head and anoints them in holy oils.
