The Land Lord was the title of the ruler of the city of Kardunash and the island of Kardun during the period of the Kardunashi Kingdom. While the Sea Lord governed the Realm of the Sea, the riches of the city itself were the purview and dominion of the Land Lord. For its entire history, the title of Land Lord was held by a member of the House of Qarnaim, descendants of Qarnaim I, the first Land Lord.
Over time, as the Realm of the Sea grew, the power of the Sea Lord began to eclipse the power of the Land Lord, though the Land Lords continued to drain the treasury with feasts, balls, tournaments, and games. The title of Land Lord was defeated in a civil war called the Return of the Tide, in which Sea Lord Quarta I invaded Kardunash, wiped out the House of Qarnaim, and abolished the title of Land Lord.
