King Lysos I Adrastos, called Lysos Lionslayer and Lysos the Heartbroken, was the first monarch of House Adrastos. A Kardunashi adventurer who lived during the time of the decline of the Kardunashi Sea Empire, Lysos fell in love with Sal'maryntha but was forced to part with her when her father arranged a political marriage for her. Lysos was given a seemingly impossible task, wrestling a lion to death, but was blessed by Airon with the strength to win. Nonetheless, the king betrayed him the refused to allow him to elope with the princess. Angered by the violation of the deal, Airon raised an island from where the king had lived and granted it to Lysos. The island became Lysos' seat for a time, but he could barely stand the place due to its association with his lost love, leading him to begin construction of a new seat, the port city of Archoria, on the coast. He would later grant the island to his bastard daughter with Sal'maryntha, Talia Loveborn, who would be the founder of House Loveborn, a cadet branch of House Adrastos and its first and most loyal vassal.
Declaring himself a king, Lysos would conquer many surrounding petty kingdoms and make war with the Kings of the Canith, House Rochis. As part of the peace between their two kingdoms, Lysos would marry Princess Raphara Rochis, though it is said that even in his death rattles he still mourned his lost love. He is remembered as the first King of Archoria, though he did not use that specific title as Archoria was named by and for his son and successor, Archos I.
