Blood Men

The Blood Men are the natives of the Wailing Wood. Alone amongst the races of Beldkind, they are immune to the poisonous effects of Bloodwood Sap. The Blood Men have a sinister reputation amongst the other races of Beldkind due to their appearance, homeland, and isolationism. They fiercely defend their forest, dipping their arrows and swords in Bloodwood Sap, ensuring an agonizing death even from a slight graze. In appearance, the Blood Men are tall and gaunt of frame, standing at six and a half feet tall on average. They have solid black eyes ringed with red skin which makes them appear to be crying blood. Their gray skin is furrowed and sometimes similarly stained red. Blood Men have razor sharp pointed teeth.

The only officially known settlement of the Blood Men is the Bloody Bay, a gloomy port town on the northern coast of the Wailing Wood. Scholars speculate that the Bloody Bay solely exists for the facilitation of trade, and that the Blood Men live in underground towns throughout the Wailing Wood which they keep deeply secret from outsiders.

There is some bad blood between the Blood Men and the Veiled Ones, owing to past attempts by the Veiled Ones to subjugate the Wailing Wood, all of which ended in spectacular failure.

Despite their sordid reputation, some scholars speculate that the Blood Men are peaceful in nature, owing to their isolation.
