The Brotherhood of Mernel was a conspiracy of Mernelian nobles and notables who were dedicated to the reestablishment of the Mernelian Empire. They rose in a brief rebellion in V 181 and, after initial success, were defeated at the hands of Prince Beldoran Pelegon.
Though House Khainohk did not officially back the brotherhood, they provided discrete support and funding, a fact which was not revealed until decades after the Mernelian Revolt.
