Horka Mercantyle, named for the Horka River, is one of the most prosperous mercantylers and usurers in Thay and in all of Melderyn. In earlier years the proprietor Syl Dasen and his partner invested heavily in trade caravans. They suffered a near-calamitous financial loss in 710 and now prefer to let others take the risks of the caravan trade. These days they prefer to invest in local businesses, which has been a good choice. The constant stream of cargoes arriving and leaving the port have made this small firm among the wealthiest in the city.
Syl worked his way up from a poor background and is now an alderman. He and his partner act as middlemen for goods moving through the port.
