The Intellectual Heart of Lygos

The Oghma Academy is the largest and most respected institution of learning in Lygos—an enormous structure of marble halls, amphitheaters, archives, laboratories, and workshops. It is funded through:

1. The City of Lygos (majority sponsor)

2. The Temples—particularly Oghma, Deneir, and Gond

3. Tuition, mostly from middle-class or guild-backed students

Because the Academy is city-backed, it is legally prohibited from refusing entry to any student who can pass its rigorous entrance exams. This creates a vibrant mix of:

• Guild hopefuls

• Independent artisans

• Middle- and lower-class talents

• Scholars seeking patronage

• Immigrant students

• Aspiring mages (basic arcane theory only—full arcane training belongs to the Arcane Guild)

Most guilds send their apprentices here for theoretical training, then move them to guild-run trade schools for specialized instruction.
