Details

Although Innsmouth is quite small, it boasts its own newspaper, the Innsmouth Sentinel. Asenath Waite, a petite, good-looking woman in her early thirties with slightly bulging eyes, is its editor and only employee, although many of the local residents and students write the articles for the publication.

In fact, Asenath often simply revises the material and then publishes the most interesting pieces, with the help of her husband, Edward Derby, who occasionally signs an article here and there.Edward was likely instrumental in the birth and development of the newspaper; he works for the Arkham Advertiser and covers the news on the coast, from Newburyport to Salem.

Asenath is the daughter of the recently deceased Ephraim, one of the extremely few people who lived in Innsmouth before the start of Barnabas Marsh’s great renovation work, and he made quite the fortune by selling land and derelict warehouses in the area of the docks.
