One day, our scouts brought us information that they had managed to track down some storm-cursed Questors. They claimed the targets were alone and wounded, making them easy prey. When Queek heard this, he rallied our warriors and went to hunt them down. I advised that we should head to Hallow's End so we could ambush them. We did just that, but our information turned out to be slightly different from reality. They were not alone—riding the lightning, even more of them arrived. And wounded? I will show our scouts the true meaning of the word "wounded"... if any of them are still alive by the time I am finished with them!
On one side of the road, hidden behind some rocks, I stood with Izak Grottle, my Rat Ogres, the Jezzails, and the Clanrats. Chang Squik was hiding in the nearby forest. Yes-yes, I did not give him a single chance to run away this time! On the other side was Queek with his Stormvermin and the Doomwheel.
The "wounded" Questors were hiding in the forest near my location, but alongside them was a wizard, a Relictor priest, and the winged heroine Kalista, whatever her name-thing is. On the other side, waiting in the forest, were Annihilators with some mortal peasants and Vigilors. Out on the road stood the Retributors. This was no easy prey; it was a trap set for us. I must find out who those scouts truly serve!
Our only option was a quick strike followed by a retreat. I ordered the Rat Ogres to charge the Questors, but they only managed to kill two out of the six. The winged heroine then charged them, and with the help of the remaining Questors, they slaughtered nearly all of my Rat Ogres. On the opposite flank, Queek and his Stormvermin merely moved into a better position, while the Clanrats utilized the tunnels toward the center to block the road.
Then, the winged heroine teleported directly behind Queek and his Stormvermin. That storm-cursed sorceress summoned a magical disc to fly upon and hurled a massive meteor down at us. I attempted to dispel it, but that Tzeentchian... I guess... disc overpowered my magic. The impact of the meteor heavily blasted me, Izak, and our last Rat Ogre. The Clanrats managed to scramble toward me, as it seemed the storm-cursed did not want to leave the forest where they were hiding. But while the Questors stayed in cover, the sorceress used her light-magic, and Retributors suddenly materialized right behind our forest, right where Chang Squik and the Clanrats were positioned. The Annihilators moved toward the Stormvermin and charged them, prompting Queek to charge right back. Meanwhile, the Vigilors shifted and shot down three Clanrats, and the Lord-Relictor charged the surviving Rat Ogres. The Annihilators absolutely crushed Queek, though in revenge, the Stormvermin managed to cut down three of them. The Retributors also destroyed one of our Gnawholes.
I cast Wither upon the Retributors. Meanwhile, the "wounded" Questors patched up their injuries and actually managed to resurrect one of their fallen. On the other side, the Doomwheel drove straight through the Annihilators and the peasants; one Annihilator was crushed along with two of the regular man-things. The Deathmaster, alongside the Jezzails, managed to take out four Retributors. I personally destroyed the remaining meteor, as its heat was becoming unbearable. Unfortunately, the two surviving Annihilators eliminated the entire squad of Stormvermin, though the Doomwheel driver managed to kill the last remaining man-thing.
Then, that cursed storm-wizard managed to cast yet another meteor, so I quickly cast a teleportation spell and fled. The blast was devastating once again. After that, the remaining storm-cursed began to surround the last of our forces. The Vigilors managed to kill two Jezzails, who returned fire but only killed one enemy. The Retributors then charged Chang Squik and the remaining Jezzails, the Questors charged our last badly wounded Rat Ogre, the Vigilors charged the Clanrats, and the Annihilators smashed into the Doomwheel. By the end of this round, only Chang, Izak, and a handful of Clanrats were left standing.
I think they could have stayed and fought. After all, if they had managed to stall those "wounded" Questors, the enemies might have lost the favor of their Storm-god. But my troops had other plans—namely, saving their own mangy fur—and they scurried away. I suppose I should punish them, but I am going to have my hands full dealing with those wretched scouts first.
