The Howling Fields were named so due to the rugged terrain with strange stone arcs and deep holes in the ground that caused the characteristic howling sounds to apparate during the frequent storms there. It was considered uninhabitable land by all but the powerful Wyll people, who dwelled mostly along the coastlines.
The area was a fertile valley of farmsteads in the days before the Calamity, where the Wyrr people of the past raised monuments to honor their ancestors, and keep the culture of their people intact in the face of Gawenhallish imperialism.
