The Wyll were a hardy people that occupied mostly temporary settlements in the region north of Frostreach and reaching as far down south as the Howling Fields. They were pale and almost stone-like in their appearance, often with bushy red hair and dark blue eyes.
History
Back in the days of Gawenhald, the Wyll were a northern people of wildlings that occasionally routed the tribes into military campaigns against the empire. After one of these campaigns succeeded in destroying valuable land in the empire, a lasting peace came upon the war-torn region when the tribes were finally allowed access to the fertile plains of the empire in exchange for peace.
The Wyll were hardier and more spiritual than the regular citizen of the empire, making them excellent farmers and mercenaries. The Wyll knew this, and did not offer their services without proper compensation.
In the years of the Calamity, the Wyll returned to their primal ways, seeking the assistance of their ancestral spirits. Unwilling to leave the land they conquered, they continued to live in the open fields, and gradually halted diplomatic connections to the remnants of the empire.
