Magnolia Plantation (464 acres, 187.77 hectares) is a house with gardens located on the Ashley River, Charleston County, South Carolina. It is one of the oldest plantations in the South. Magnolia became known for its gardens after John Grimke-Drayton inherited the property in the 1840s and developed them. Enslaved Africans work in large gangs and live in large groups on Magnolia, often with little interference by whites.
