The party returns triumphantly to Untara, with spoils of war, knowledge, and a bunch of magical trinkets.
Davaris greets them with open arms, his eyes light up as he sees the additional armaments the party has returned with. He graciously accepts the weapons and sends them on a caravan to The Bulwark. He tells the party to meet him at the gates to Untara proper in an hour, because he has a surprise.
It seems that Davaris has spoken to the elders, and convinced them that Fellowship of "the thing" is enough of a boon to The Emerald Enclave to be allowed access.
As the party approches the gate made of ornate living wood grown into an arch, it seems to notice them. Merc and Broshov swear they could see a face in the wood. A ray of sunlight streams from the sky, and surrounding pollen seems to attach to the members of the party, then the gates opens by withdrawing some of the vines that makes its strucure down into the earth.
Untara proper is a glorious sight, in the lush mountainous terrain, white marble buildings supported by wood scatter the landscape and a 60ft river with waterfalls on either side runs through the center cutting off Temple of the Green Faith from the rest.
At a distance, the citizens seem abrehensive when they see Fellowship of "the thing", but after they they walk within ~10ft of of the group once, their attitude seems to changes, and they suddenly greet the newcommers warmly.
Davaris explains that the pheromones they have been infused with makes a permanent imprint on the population to tell them they are friends, and should be treated as such. He also tells them that they can buy lodging at the The Far Stag Pub until they get their own dwelling. It should only be a meager 2 silver pieces per day for lodging and food.
The party uses the next couple days to fully rest and treat their wounds, and then decides to take a few weeks to prepare for their next adventure.
The following is a short tale of what happened during this lul in the action.
Merc: 1gp, 1.5gp worth of snare material.
Read small cat in a big town to get Merc's own description of what happens.
Merc's business is indeed a bit slow to kick off, and his odd manorisms don't do him any favors, however, the clients he does get get treated with an exellent service and amazing results, their missing posessions are found in no time, and the rumor of his services start to spread around town. He ears 1gp for his two jobs well done.
While working at his new business and scavenging the area, Merc also scouts the area for rope and twine, sharp objects and other usefull items he could use to craft snares, he finds a total of 1.5gp worth of materials to craft snares with.
Glibnik Rotgut Dragon Eater: 5 silver, one tome.
Glibnik decides to open a shop of his own, his knowledge of the local society and diplomatic skills not doing him any favors, he sets up his shop right behind behind the city supply centre, a location he has deemed a wonderful place thanks to the wonderful refuse he has been picking up there.
After a few days with little business the supply centre clerk Haésune inquires why Glibnik Rotgut Dragon Eater is sitting there alone. The sign to his store says:
Moar Vork' Vonted
I am Glibnik, i am strong. Hire me! Pay magic or shiny stuff.
Haésune feels for the little guy, and decides to hire him to help move supplies into the supply centre.
He is thoroughly impressed with Glibnik Rotgut Dragon Eater work ethic, flawless execution and speed. He payed glibnik 5 silver. Glibnik also told Haésune about his interest in enchanting and magical runes, he is told the Basics of mana and given a tome Enchanting and you
Grater Brainer does his best to coordinate the others and help them track down a mighty dragon for the Fellowship of "the thing" to take down for Glibnik Rotgut Dragon Eater.
He also tries to ask the elves if any of them can help with the translation of the weird book they found in Dyndond. But due to his odd manorisms and withholding nature, the elves seem suspecious of him, he fails to make a good impression, and his attempts at finding a fluent speaker or decypher any of the writing himself is for naught.
On his quest for knowledge however, he gets led to the library in Temple of the Green Faith and here his curiosity starts to find fruit. He gathers all the tomes he can, and starts researching. For an entire week none of the others see him, and suspect he has traveled onward. But he emerges with a wide grin on his face.
His samples and wide knowledge of both arcane and occult magic coupled with his knowledge of what he calls demons seems to finally coalesse into a somewhat coherent picture. Corrupted Mana
Broshov: Silken (Slick) Shirt of Several Sockets
Broshov' curiosity is normally cute and compelling to people, but the elves find his free spirit very unnatural to their stringent lives, they find it quite off putting. He tries to enage with them in conversation about their tailoring skills, but does not have much luck, he does however have luck when spying on people and trying to access how their clothes work (where are the hidden and not so hidden pockets etc) and he makes a solid attempt at copying the functionality in his own fine drapes, the looks however did not come out perfect. Silken (Slick) Shirt of Several Sockets.
Content with the results of his new endevour Broshov spends his remaining time researching obelisks big and small while fiddling with the Cube of Connections and Cube of affinity, he manages to find a couple new combinations on the cubes, and with help from Grater Brainer they also notice some kind of affinity between the two.
Broshov notices the others look busy with each their endevors, and closing in on the end of their planned hiatus, he decides to go out on a gamle, he grabs his stuff, the cubes, and heads out to the Obelisk of power: Stomping grounds. during Aligntag. Broshov visits the obelisk.
Broshov sneaks his way out into the dark night and safely reaches the obelisk He manipulates the cube as they did together before, this time leaving the Cube of Connections levitating in the centre and using Cube of affinity to attune to different kinds of mana. He seems to be able to select or highlight different stars in the night sky through the loop at the center. But as the dawn breaks, he is still unable to do anything particular to "activate" the obelisk which he asumes is a teleporter of some kind.
The final thing to take place is the party working together to gather information on the nearby dragon roosts of the land. They are told of the well known location Dragonskull Summit which lies to the south of their current location, they are told that a very powerful Darigaaz a powerful adult iron dragon, many of its brute also live in the surrounding area.
She is not directly hostile as long as other sentients do not make claims to her territory. Several lesser dragons of her brood lay claim to the surrounding area.
It is believed that it is most easily reached by passing the Sawblade Mountains and then going through the Canyons of Slough in the The Savage Lands. with no interruptions it would take 15 days by foot, and the elves and your own intuition seem to think it it beyond your capabilities at the given time.
