Folklore among the refugees of the Backwaters describe Ezra as a vaporous guardian with dark, billowing hair who in a time long past manipulated the Mists and monsoons to shield the vulnerable from attackers. Her followers seek to emulate their goddess’s role as a protector by sheltering those fleeing or displaced due to war. Many of her devotees believe that the white fogs that permeate the rivers every now and then are her sacred veil, used to conceal their movements and provide sanctuary, whereas others believe her silver kite shield represents a literal barrier against the darkness, requiring her faithful to act as the stalwart defenders of those the Vasavadan heirs have cast aside.
