Tired of the escape and the child-birth, a native-american woman hugs a dead baby while she tries, and in a ineffective way, stop a gunshot wound in her body. In her last moments of life, she remembers Tawiscara, that as her own son, it was born by having his mother killed. Although, unlike Tawiscara, her son was stillborn. Then, she sees a man of unhealthy, and sickened appearance by her side.
Tom Mohawk, also known as Tanny, grew up in a native-american village, and soon became a troublemaker. He entered a gang of bikers that roam the United States. His face is scarred by smallpox, and carries fifty years of blood, crime, and violence.
He knows about the fate of his mother, he knows that Tawiscara saved him for a purpose. Normal people commonly think that people who lives like him is a terrible thing, but the World is not that simple.
People refuse the gifts from Tawiscara. A snake does nothing different from another predator. A bat is not less blessed because it flies at night. Without night there would be no day. Without sickness there would be no cure. Without death there would be no life.
Book 1: The World Awakens
Tanny knows people in the underworld of crime in Chicago, and is a contact of Naion in how to deal with cleaning bodies. Naion called him to dispose of the Tsukikage bodies that attacked the Band because they were housing Saburou, an Oni and terrible monster that attacked many people in the city.
He helped the team with his fight experience, and fought the sorcerers from Ordo Aureum Aurora. When the team needed help to disrupt the rituals in many places of Chicago at the same time, they called him to deal with this.
He wasn't present in the Band fight against the vampires, but helped fighting many of their goons near the Navy Pier. He saw the supernatural effect the ritual had on the city, and on the Ley Lines.
After everything happened, he and his biker gang started roaming the World again, because that's what he does.
