The descendents of Angels and humans, or of those who were saved by literal miracles, are called Nephilim. They are almost always particularly tall and beautiful. In addition to unusual eye color that most Highbourne have, Nephilim can have traits such as:
- Can make their eyes glow to light their way
- Metallic hair color
- Telepathy with people they can see
- Faint, glowing light in their veins, visible only in low light
