"If we stay near the Amphime River, it shouldn't be too bad. The grung usually stay away, in case any Tritoan patrols move up stream. That said, if we do run into them, the river provides no real safety - they can swim better than you can, so at that point, best to fall back to the nearest high ground."

Rathian Jungle Guide, Welir af Ernar

Wilderness Roles

Most professions exist around and in support of civilization - settlements, towns, cities, keeps, monasteries, etc. However, some professions exist to fill the gaps left open by civilization, the jobs that are needed to keep trade flowing far from any settlement, the positions needed to keep the borderlands secure, and the occupations that exist completely outside of the ecosystem of any feudal economy. Since they are far removed from the social hierarchies of the larger settlements, those with wilderness roles tend to have little to no positive or negative reputation among city folk, other than a kind of reputation for rugged stoicism, whether true or false. Those with these positions tend to either live in small agrarian villages, border towns, and the clans and tribes that themselves live outside of any feudal or classical system.
