Character Creation

Welcome to our Pathfinder Society! Creating a character is a rigorous process.

You will be playing as a person has joined and qualified as a Pathfinder Agents in The Pathfinder Society, a world-spanning organization that goes on dangerous missions. Sometimes their missions include securing ancient tomes, other times they aid in geopolitical events or restore ancient trade routes. At the 'City at the Center of the World', Absalom is the Grand Lodge, where the Wall Of Names notes all who have fallen in the line of duty. As a newly accepted member of the Pathfinder Society, you'll be sent out on teams to dangerous locations and see mythic sights - while paid well for your work. The current year is around 4719 AR - 4723 AR, and it is currently the Age of Lost Omens.

Disclaimers:

All characters are susceptible to dying.

We've decided to retain the Death and Dying rules to promote cooperation between Pathfinder Society members, and for the glory of success. When you die, if you do not have a token from reaching Level 4, you will have to make a new character starting at Level 1.

Feel free to make multiple characters.

You may experience death, and we plan to have experience gain be fast enough to allow people to level multiple characters. With the playtest classes, we have 20 Classes to choose from, and Numerous Archetypes to customize your classes.  Experiment!

Creating a Character:

! Please Read This First or have it available to have a 'General Idea' of what this all means !

You are welcome to use a Form Fillable PDF, or utilize a character builder such as Pathbuilder.

Steps to Follow to fill out your PDF:

  • Select an Ancestry, a Heritage, and typically 1 Ancestry Feat
    • ALL Ancestries are Common instead of their usual rarity.
    • ALL Versatile Heritages are Common isntead of their usual rarity
    • Your Ancestry does not need to match your visual aesthetic (You can be a wolf-boy using the Elf Ancestry if you want), but know that the pre-written content does often feature the common races.
  • Select a Background
    • No Rare Backgrounds
    • No Adventure-Path-Specific Backgrounds
    • No Legacy Backgrounds
  • Select a Class, starting at level 1. (By DMing in the Society at least once, you may start agents at Level 2 and level existing agents to level 2 with 0XP.)
  • Begin Purchasing Equipment (15gp, that's 150sp due to 10sp per 1gp!)
  • SELECT A SCHOOL OF THE SOCIETY TO JOIN [Generalist, Field Commission, Scrolls, Spells, and Swords]
    • Gain a Bonus 'Lore', and at level 5, gain a 'Bonus Feat'
    • At the start of each mission, gain 1 'Temporary Consumable'
    • (house rule) Field Commissioners access to only the 'Healing Poition' option at start of missions in lieu of no option.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Between your class feats, ancestry feats, spells, and equipment - you get 1 Uncommon option. This does not need to be selected at level 1, and can be saved for later.
    • Examine the Item-Accessibility-Changes and House Rules for any adjustments or additional ideas.
