Xanthia - Session 62 - 100ft Better Than Any Man

Account

100ft better than any man - 22nd June 2021

When is a hammer not a hammer?

Before the party go to the games they meet with Moxena - The Lady of Coins - a powerful woman who is in an important position within her world. Xan is impressed by her but understands that she is in a lot of danger and it's not something that she would personally put herself in. She admires the courage and power that Moxena has.

They travel through the docks, into a warehouse which is a damaged building. Most of the people in there disregard the party but one gestures towards the back room where the Lady of Coins resides.

The lady of coins tells the party that things remain stable however there were a few upsets while they were gone including the attack on Spira.  She tells the party that it was not by Amazons but by fans of Hahn Drakos - taking out his competitors. As well as this an Amazon, Erebeth, tried to join the Cult of the Snake however Moxena petrified her and removed her from the situation. Theo stepped up to argue with Moxena about whether petrification and murder are the only way to sideline people but it seems that there is no way Moxena will change her view.

Xan’s ears prick up when discussion of the popular athletes begins, naming Leyland who is now one of the athletes with the most fans. She is sure she can beat him.

In the name of Pythor we will fight

At the sacrificial ceremony Xanthia calls out to Pythor - as the god of battles and war - to ensure she has a good fight in the games.

The Games begin…

First-round is discus and Xan easily takes out most of her competition, throwing the discus 243ft and coming second against Hatria. She was crutched by Theo, who gave her encouragement and cat-like reflexes before the throw (however she's confident she would have been able to make it without his involvement).

In the javelin was where Xan really shines, throwing 460ft and beating the world record for javelin throws. Calliope gave her some encouragement prior to the throw and her newfound friendship gives her that extra lift she managed to launch the javelin much further than she would have had she tried to enter these games on her own. As they celebrate Xan looks towards Calliope, throwing her arms up in celebration of their joint efforts.

The long jump proves to be a little more of a challenge however Xan still achieved a 33ft leap coming in third after Sy and Leland. The crowd are baffled and impressed by Xan’s jump despite her small stature. She shouts and reminders that she is the Champion of the Mountain, and will succeed.

Events later in the week allow Xan to shine once again with her claiming first place along with Helikaon in 2nd, for the 1000ft footrace. Theo even tried out, his little legs going a mile a minute, but it was not enough to qualify despite his efforts. Xan really reflects the drawings of her posted up around the town as a blur against a sea of runners.

Even in traditional wrestling Xan is victorious, beating some of the stronger competitors. She puts it down to her time on the Isle growing up around such questionable types, having to weasel her way out of many sticky situations.

After school activities

In the Killix, Xan puts up a fair fight, but despite her history of being able to hold her liquor, she drops out of the game in a disappointing flop onto the table as she downs one of one too many amphoras of wine. Even the smaller members of the Oracles chosen win out but are finally knocked down by their friend Pholon

In the arm wrestling although not her strongest suit, Xan defeats the hairy beast-man Barnos then takes down Helikaon (though it took a long time people suggested that they took this as a time to have a friendly chat about their gains in gold and treasures over the week between the launch ceremony and the beginning of the games). Finally, Xan faces the strongest competitor and it is only at this point he takes her out.
