Session 97: 7th June 2022 - The fate of a crab

GRAB. GRAB HER.

NO. NO. NO.

WRONG WAY STUPID.

DO IT RIGHT. GO THAT WAY.

CRAB GRAB. NO. NO. NO.

GOODBYE USELESS HUMAN.

It all rushes back, and a waves hits Xan square in the face. She’s back. She ducks under the water and regains her focus. Looking around she sees most of her friends and crew on the shipwreck, and Calliope still hovering above the water. A hag is perched at the edge of the boat, near where Xan can see that Alke threw all her spells at it. She dives through the waves towards it and launches her dory at it, hitting it and cutting it up. But it still stands.

A crew member, Helikaon and Xan all aim to attack the hag in front of them, and Theo sends a bolt across the wreck, but it doesn’t yet take it out. Finally they take all three out within what feels like seconds.

They board the boat and Xan gently pushes the hag with her foot, investigating the features having been hidden by them before. They are monstrous. Braz seems to stare at the boat trying to work out where the boat came from.

Xan cautiously swims around un the under desk, it is mostly rotted and there is not much there to be discovered. She resurfaces and rejoins the group. Their crewmate, a young sailor lies on the floor, Nestor. They gather around him and give him their respect.

They discuss the battle, and decide that before leaving they decide they will burn the ship. Xan immediately yeets herself off of the boat and grabs her dory from where it landed.

They sail off in the distance anc watch as the hag’s shop burns.

The Fates

The sun sets as they pull inot the island the call The Fates. A bleak and rocky place. Wind and rain batter the ship and the shore. Spare vegetation interrupts the grey stone, sea and overcast sky. Rocky cliffs surround the island but there is a small bay where landfall might be possible.

Apart from the calls of the seabirds, the waves are the only sounds in the area.

The crew begins to murmur about the island. They decide, after a long conversation to dock at the island’s bay, and head down into their bunks. Some of the crew stay on board on watch, reminiscing about Nestor and resting around their posts.

The next day they depart the ship onto the Island of the Fates.

They walk across the rocky island paths and see a pond, creepily filled with skeletons. Cave entrances surround the pool. As they reach the caves a woman appears. In her clawed hands she holds weapons. Her body is that of a snake. She calls them forward.

Calliope steps up and greets her. Xan stands by her side, poised.

The woman asks them to follow her and states her name; Daria. They pass by some figures hiding within caves, including a tentacled monster and a medusa - not unlike Alke. Alke asks Daria why they should trust her, and who she is - not just her name.

Daria dismisses the question. She guides them up the hill. As they pass the medusa Alke bravely greets her. The medusa is leaned against the side of the cave holding a bow. It seems she chose to be there. They reach where they will greet the Fates. Theo, Helikaon and Alke seem nervous as they walk into the cavern.
