Session 110: 11th October 2022 - Hold onto your mistakes

The Chosen depart ways to question the suspects in their separate homes. Braz and Xan set off together to speak to the pirate Tad, a fellow that Xan has previously crossed paths with but never grew close to.

Approaching Tad on the tower of wrecks they find he is tinkering with some planks, hammering nails into one. Braz approachesm, a strong arm accusing Tad of murder. Xan gently softening the blow. Between them they convince Tad to accompany them to the meeting spot. Braz holds Tad on his shoulder and guides them up to Gild’s house, where he had summoned Xan previously.

He is drunk. Moping about his Ismane off captured with Taran. Xan is furious he would just give up.

He speak os leaving the island, taking a crew somewhere else and starting again.

How dare he.

Xan raises her voice at him. Snatches his drink from his mouth and takes a swig, then throws it to the ground. A big whiny baby. Not a strong captain.

He can’t run away from his problems, he has a duty to Ismane. He can only succeed with others at his side. Others that are different to himself. He saiy he will not support Taran, he would never. He says it will be a mistake. Xan responds, he might make a mistake but at least he tried. He must try.

“You hold your mistakes even if they are wrong, at least you made a decision.”

They get Gold onto the boat. As they arrive at the meeting Braz cast a spell on Gold to sober him up. Xan stares into his eyes as he comes round, willing him to stay on the boat and continue this journey. He seems to agree, and uses the trusty sea water to refresh his look.

The meeting

As they arrive on the pier, Xan pulls Gold to his feet, presenting them as a strong united front, the wind whipping in their hair and announcing their presence as they come up flush with the land.

As they pull up Xan spots A flash as Hippofilius appears behind Taran, seemingly whispering in his ear.

Calliope and Helikaon approach the King Taran, and Calliope (oh Calliope) passes a spell over them, softening their faces. Kaphissa however seems to remain as she was before.

As a offer of food and friendship begins and they break bread together under an Oath of Guest Friendship.

Alke and Ismane arrive, just in time as Gold begins to threaten the King and before all hell breaks loose. Ismane, in her infinite wisdom, steps forward and speaks calmly, addressing the room and requesting they speak of finding the murderer and resolving these issues to move to others concerns.

Gold says he will not speak to who murdered Stavros. Helikaon speaks up - they cannot have discussions until they have identified the murdered. Helikaon darts his eyes to Tyrone, directly asking him if they can reveal the killers, then to Gold and Taran.

Helikaon puts his hard in the air and grasps his sword, slamming it into the ground. A zone of truth.

Xan takes the helm and as if confident of who killed Stavros - pointing the finger at Tad. Calliope sidles up to one of the cult followers. But they are not revealed. They walk up to Tad and get in his face.

Tad shouts out that he is in fact a murderer, but not of the previous King. Hipofiluis approaches the cult followers, and faces them down. He directly addresses them to tell the truth about their innocence, or not.

One speaks - guilty. He is seized.

Learn from each other

Xan proposes to the two leaders, and Tyrone, that they can agree a counsel, to avoid future conflicts. Alke suggests something, that Xan doesn’t quite follow. She hears them speak about protections, trade and people who may choose to move into other roles on the island once they have arrived. Theo also speaks of a route out of the island, for those who were born there and may have not had a choice.

  • Tyrone wants to leave

  • Taran wants to be recognised as King

  • Gold wants the full autonomy of the Navy

A sudden panic as a messenger appears. The army and the navy are advancing on Nhehnen, holder of the academy fire. They must reach them first or else be faced with certain death.
