The figure hurtling towards them is raging, with a sword of fire. Xan is afraid, and dashes away from the dragon down the stairs past the elephant. She runs across the stairs and is caught in a fire that washes a feeling of weakness across her body. She continues non-the-less and reaches Loreus, jumping up and bracing herself against the satyr and the fountainhead with her legs in an arch. She fires an arrow at the dragon and hits it, inflicting some damage, then drops back down to Loreus’ height. The dragon lowers his head and a voice rumbles out of its chest.
“I surrender. I surrender, do with me as you wish.”
Braz steps forward and reaches out to the dragon. He casts a curse on the beast, that he and his children may not leave the island. It surges outward and grasps hold of Helios.
He screams out before realising that his children can no longer leave the island to fight in the war for Sydon.
The Fury states she will take the dragon’s soul but leave the body with them. The dragon asks that they allow him to die in his lake on the island. They agree.
Hipofilius and Nessa slowly poison him with a lotus and he sinks into the water, his head sitting above the surface. Before he leaves he bestows the entirety of the hoard on the island to The Chosen.
Xan walks up the stairs, back towards the hall where they had fought the dragon.
Xan goes back to the room in the dark, her foot clinking against something on the floor. As she looks down, lighting a torch she is overcome with a sense of pure joy as she sees piles and piles of golden coins and precious gems laying in a pile larger than she has ever seen. Even more that Icarus hoard she thinks. She screeches uncontrollably and shoves the torch into a slit in the wood, lighting up the room. She dives down and starts counting it out, shoving some into her pockets while yelling out “GOLD, COINS, GOLD, GOOOOLD!!” and laughing with glee. 40,000 in gold and gems.
She begins to pile up the coins into sensible mounds but before she can count it out she knocks over the ones she started with. Wonderful.
She catches a glimpse of Braz dragging something large outside of the room they are in, but is too enamoured with the gold to worry about that.
Chariot of Dawn This chariot is a beautifully decorated artifact made from bronze. The chariot can only be activated while duringthe day in the open air and cannot be used underground or during night. When activated with its command word, a team of four golden horses spring into existence to pull the vehicle. The chariot shines with a painfully radiant light in a 60 ft. radius. Anyone within that radius other than the rider takes 4 (1d6) damage. The chariot has a flying speed of 90 ft. Flying is a free action, but the horses are difficult to control, and every round, the chariot rider must use a bonus action to control the horses. This requires a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Animal Handling) check. Failure means that the control is lost and the horses will move their full movement to climb straight up into the sky. |
Hipofilius and Nessa were sat by the lake, and when he utters a magical word Xan feels the ground shake and move, and the whole temple lifts up off of the floor, running the neat ish piles that Xan had made. She grabs onto her weapons and walks to the edge of the temple and glances down at the fortress revealed below.
She sees Calliope whooshing towards her and scoots back to make space for her to land. Calliope offers her hand to Xan, and says she will take her down. Xan agrees but only if they can revisit the temple to recover their gold. Calliope touches Xan’s hand and before she can even breath, they have Dimension Doored down to the ground. Xan feels an overwhelming rush from her stomach and the contents eject themselves onto the ground. Calliope gently touches her shoulder and she feels a little better.
“I thought you’d set off a trap” Calliope says, but Xan assured her it was not the case. They look over to Hoppofilius who is gently speaking to the dragon’s body in the lake. He promises The Chosen will do their best to protect the inhabitants of the island. He raises lilies around the lake to give a serene air to the water.
