Vaten

The Warlord

The Warlord

Despite his place as god of war, Vaten hails from relatively humble beginnings. He was originally a regional god, presiding over a dwarven civilization kept isolated from the rest of the world.

During the Hollow Wars, his homeland, Kar Gurihm, broke their isolation. They developed war machines that far surpassed the technology of their time, weapons of mass destruction that turned the tides of the war, but then turned against Asuvia itself in the wake of this century of ruin.

Ultimately, Kar Gurihm destroyed itself, victims of their own creations. In this exaltation of suffering and death, and with the weight of war upon all of Averus, Vaten's power surged, bringing him to ascend to the Prime Pantheon.

Worshipping Vaten

Though Vaten and his domain are undoubtedly evil, many pay their respects to the god of war. While none wish for war, they are far more desperate not to lose a war. Soldiers wear his tokens to garner favor. Unknown sects developed Vaten's Song long ago as a means of honoring the Warlord.
