Shiv is a proud and determined gold dragonborn. He is the younger twin brother of Chaaya Bhatt, and the fourth child of Hassan Bhatt and Banhi Faridun.
As a child, Shiv adored Banhi's stories of her time spent in service. He saw her as a hero, someone who fought for what she believed to be right. After her death, he remained entranced by these stories, and thought the best way to honor her legacy would be to follow in her footsteps and enlist in the Pathari military. This became a source of friction between him and the rest of the family -- especially with Tamara Bhatt, who believed that Banhi wanted a quiet, peaceful life for her kids, and that following in her footsteps would be spitting in the face of everything that followed after her discharge. Tama argued fiercely with him, claiming that it was out of love, but Shiv took Tamara's resistance as proof of her own cowardice, and felt as if she didn't believe in his ability to live up to their mother's legacy.
In her return home after meeting the party, Tamara learned that Shiv ran away from home to enlist in the military after all. He would be discharged early after losing his leg below the knee and sent back home with a light stipend.
After moving to Límíng City, Shiv would agree to apprentice under Foes Quillspring and receive an improved prosthetic. He later joined Liutubang as an apprentice smith.
