Quick pitch: The Second Kingdom of Bost was once a wealthy dominion, intermittently tangled up with internal and external wars throughout its history. In the distant past, a few centuries following the downfall of the Yarrowsong Empire, the nation of Laasir organized from a number of human factions in the region. It initially only comprised the area around Pincer Bay, but after conquering Corynth around 800 AC and Old Bost (simply referred to as Bost at the time) around 1100 AC, it expanded to control most of the Silver Sea coastline. Laasir even held the Queen's Cape region for a time, having negotiated with the human settlements present around 1600 AC, until a group of hobgoblins occupied the area to form Shozmog around 1850 AC. When the war between Morden and Skaricz broke out circa 2600 AC, Laasir contributed some manpower to Skaricz with under the guarantee that the Skarites would cede some of their eastern lands; when Skaricz was defeated, the Laasirians lost both their troops and their promised territory, and a mutual disdain remained between Morden and Laasir. This culminated in open conflict in the 3200s; the War of the Corynth Hills lasted for just over a century, with periods of peace transitioning to battle and back again every 3-5 years or so. Throughout the course of the war many lives were lost, and rarely more than a few miles ended up changing hands at a time. The New Deneth Accord was signed in 3314 AC, formally ending the conflict; by this point Laasir had gained some territory, but had lost the historic site of Corynth Keep (which remained under Morden's control until the Witch Queen's rise to power). The next millennia would be a largely peaceful time, though eventually the wealth amassed during the nation's expansion and various wars would dwindle.
In 4165, citing the continual decline of the nation's prosperity and the widening divide between the wealthy and impoverished citizens, the general of the Laasirian armies organized a military coup that overthrew the old order. The general installed himself as the country's first monarch, crowning himself King Trentus Exilliare I and renaming the nation the Second Kingdom of Bost (in honor of Old Bost, to which he traced his lineage). Bost enjoyed over a century of marked prosperity, though at the cost of much goodwill of its neighbors. Trentus I's habit of aggressive diplomacy caused tensions between surrounding nations and his successor, King Trentus II, to almost result in war numerous times. In a sense, it's miraculous that eastern Landis was still at peace when the Witch Queen drowned Bost in the First Dead Tide. Very little of the country is believed to remain now, though practically no information escapes from the depths of the Carrion Empire.
